This program fully prepares students to take the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification exam.

The Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) is considered one of the top system administrator certifications in the IT industry.

Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of open source solutions and the organization is highly valued by many companies. In fact, more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies rely on Red Hat to help them solve their business challenges and 82% of companies using online job boards to recruit for Linux positions are specifically looking for Red Hat Certified professionals.

Red Hat Certification holders also have the ability to command high salaries. The Red Hat Certified System Administrator Certification is actually considered one of the top paying certifications for Linux system administrators. The annual average salary for RHCSA Certified IT professionals is about $114,700.

In order to pass the Red Hat Certified System Administrator Certification exam, you must demonstrate all the skills that are necessary for Linux system administrators, including the ability to perform these tasks:

  • Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation

  • Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting and stopping virtual machines, and controlling services

  • Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes

  • Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, and core services

  • Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication

  • Manage security, including basic firewall and SELinux configuration

The certification exam is not a requirement for graduation. Vendor certifications are at the student’s expense. Vouchers may be available depending on the student’s funding and financial aid.

Duration: 33 Hours (23 Hours + 10hr Virtual Practice Lab in Linux Fundamentals)
